Fans may be hoping for a from in the future, but the director recently said that idea has almost no chance of happening.
Taking to Twitter to answer some fan questions, Gunn was asked about the possibility of a Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 4. Gunn said that he’s sure another film in the franchise will come out at some point, but that it wouldn’t be called “Volume 4” and would not feature the same cast.
Nor all those actors. And it wouldn’t be called “vol 4.”
When asked if a “Vol. 4” will ever come out or has a chance to, Gunn said that it had “no real chance” of happening. While the director didn’t attribute why, it’s not too shocking to hear with his new position as co-CEO of DC Studios as well as a majority of the Guardians cast expressing that they are done with the franchise.
No real chance, no.
The third entry in the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise was meant to act as a sort of farewell to the group as it is now. Actors Dave Bautista and Zoe Saldaña have both talked about being done with the franchise prior to Vol. 3’s release, and with Gunn also no longer involved in Marvel movie production, it’s unknown if or when fans will see the group together again in the MCU.
