This is only a 47% drop from the first weekend’s domestic gross of $114 million, making it one of the best-performing MCU sequels to date.
Gunn also shared how proud he is that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 wasn’t just a “first-weekend cash grab,” showing how much the people have connected well with the story of the titular band of misfits.

Well, I definitely want to be a responsible partner to the investors & make a profit BUT why I am so proud of how well it's doing around the globe is that it's a reflection of word of mouth & how well the movie speaks to people. It's not a first-weekend cash-grab.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is once again written and directed by James Gunn. MCU vets Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldaña, Dave Bautista, Sean Gunn, Karen Gillan, Pom Klementieff, Bradley Cooper, and Vin Diesel return to reprise their respective roles as Star-Lord, Gamora, Drax, Kraglin, Nebula, Mantis, Rocket, and Groot, while Maria Bakalova joins on as Cosmo the Spacedog.
