Avatar: The Way Of Water is scheduled to premiere June 7 on both Max and Disney+. Unusually, the blockbuster will be one of the few films to simultaneously release on competing streaming services.
Set more than a decade after the events of the original film, the sequel revolves around the Sully family--Jake, Neytiri, and their children. The film delves into their challenges, their efforts to protect each other, the battles they face for survival, and the tragedies they endure. Against the seascapes of Pandora, audiences are introduced to new Na'vi cultures, and a diverse range of extraordinary sea creatures. Avatar: The Way Of Water garnered several Academy Awards nominations, including Best Picture, and achieved significant global box office success to the tune of $2.32 billion. Its ensemble cast includes Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldaña, Sigourney Weaver, Stephen Lang, Cliff Curtis, and Kate Winslet. Newcomers Britain Dalton, Jamie Flatters, Trinity Jo-Li Bliss, Bailey Bass, and Jack Champion also join the cast.
