Diablo 4 is a live service game, which means it comes with the usual complement of Seasonal additions and Battle Pass unlocks. In addition, it features an easily accessible store called the Diablo Shop (Hit the Touchpad, and use L1 or R1 to navigate to the Shop tab), which sells premium skins and cosmetic unlocks in exchange for Platinum. Blizzard, at least so far, seems to have learned some lessons from Diablo 3's real-money Auction House and has promised to restrict things to cosmetic microtransactions only for those who want them.
The Diablo Shop refreshes weekly on a Monday, with the first taking place on 5th June 2023. Hundreds of new cosmetic items have been promised on a rotating roster. So don't be too concerned if you miss out on that special skin you'd had an eye on; chances are it will come back around before too long.
The exact exchange rate will differ depending on your region, and you can find the exact conversion here on Blizzard's Battle.net, but be prepared for some sticker shock. As in the example above, a purchase of 2800 Platinum is required to unlock the 2200 Lion of Arreat pack, costing roughly $25 USD or £20.99.
