Immortals of Aveum team Ascendant Studios has made the decision to delay its PS5 first-person shooter by a month. It was originally set to launch on 20th July 2023, but will now release on 22nd August 2023, a few days prior to Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon. The developer says pushing the title back by four weeks will let it «realize our full vision» with extra polish, further optimization, and an all-round «strong launch».
CEO Bret Robbins said: «The recent feedback to the game proves to us what we already felt: that Immortals of Aveum is something special. In order to realize our full vision, we are going to take a few extra weeks, making our new launch date Tuesday, August 22nd. This will give us time to further polish the game, finish optimizing all platforms, and deliver a strong launch. We owe it to ourselves and to you to get this right.»
Releasing under the EA Originals label — the same as It Takes Two and Wild Hearts — the magic-based FPS is the first game out of Ascendant Studios, which is comprised of former Call of Duty and Dead Space developers. As well as the aforementioned FromSoftware title, Immortals of Aveum will also compete for attention with Baldur's Gate 3 and Starfield, both of which release a week later.
