After working through the Destiny 2 Lightfall campaign, players gain access to a number of additional activities and quests on Neomuna, one of which seemingly confirms the return of a character long assumed to be dead. Destiny 2 has evolved considerably following its launch in 2017, some of the changes not going over so well with the community which typically involved sunsetting and vaulting content. Through feedback, Bungie has seemingly settled on a favorable system, confirming that it will no longer sunset Destiny 2 expansions and instead add mission rotators to bring back older content.
One of the biggest changes Destiny 2 has seen came prior to the launch of the Beyond Light expansion. The season prior introduced the arrival of the Darkness and Pyramid ships, with the finale event effectively removing numerous locations from the game including Saturn's moon Titan, Mars, Mercury, and Jupiter's moon Io. Naturally, this removed a ton of content as well as characters from the game including the grumpy Awoken Warlock Asher Mir, who was given a fitting story end. However, it seems as though his story may not be quite over after all.

Similar to other expansions, finishing the main quest in Lightfall does not signal the end of new content in the latest Destiny 2 expansion. Players then get access to new quests and activities including Partition: Hard Reset, which pits fireteams against the Vex and Shadow Cabal on Neomuna. However, during the mission, players have seemingly discovered that Asher Mir hasn't actually died as many initially though and has instead become part of the Vex Network.
