Killer7 is a game unlike any other. If you didn’t play the legendary PS2 shooter, then it’s almost impossible to introduce: it has elements of first-person shooter, rails shooter, and point-and-click gameplay. Developed by Grasshopper Manufacture in collaboration with Capcom, it perhaps deserves to be appreciated by a contemporary audience.
And it could happen.
As part of a presentation dedicated to Shadows of the Damned: Hella Remastered, industry icons Suda51 and Shinji Mikami – who worked on Killer7 as a director and writer respectively – discussed their desire to bring the series back.
“Someday we may just see a Killer7 sequel – or a Complete Edition,” Suda51 declared. “I’d rather make a Complete Edition first. And then Killer11.” The pair then joked about whether the sequel would be called Killer11. “I don’t know. Killer7: Something, probably. Maybe Killer7: Beyond.”
While the conversation was mostly conducted in jest, Suda51 concluded that he believes there’s a market for a Complete Edition of the game. “Fans would probably love [it],” he contemplated. “That could actually be doable.”

Of course, the issue is that the original game was published by Capcom, and it’d probably need to at least sign off on the project in order to make it happen. Perhaps it’s a game Sony could convince the company to release as part of its new PS2 emulator; an expanded remaster would be better, of course, but we’d take a straight port over nothing.
