Originally released for PC back in 2021, Wildermyth is finally making its PlayStation debut this year. This is a very story-focused, fantasy RPG where the narrative is shaped almost entirely by your created characters and their actions. It also boasts a tactical, turn-based combat system and a charming papercraft art direction.
Wildermyth has been sitting at 'Overwhelmingly Positive' user reviews on Steam for quite some time, and although the game's never been blockbuster, it's clear that those who enjoy its procedural structure really end up loving the adventure.
Indeed, there are countless permutations to how the title's story can unravel. Your party members grow older as the game progresses, their personalities can change based on how things pan out, and they can even fall in love with one another.
Wildermyth ventures to PS5 and PS4 on the 22nd October — but will you be accepting this quest? Start creating your own heroes in the comments section below.
Robert (or Rob if you're lazy) is an assistant editor of Push Square, and has been a fan of PlayStation since the 90s, when Tekken 2 introduced him to the incredible world of video games. He still takes his fighting games seriously, but RPGs are his true passion. The Witcher, Persona, Dragon Quest, Mass Effect, Final Fantasy, Trails, Tales — he's played 'em all. A little too much, some might say.
If I can make a necro then I'll strongly consider buying.
I'd been waiting so long for this I'd kind of given up and forgotten all about it. Great news, hopefully as an oldish game now it'll include all the dlc to date.
Great news — I'll be sure to add to my wishlist.
Finally! Honestly been waiting ages for this to come along, October is shaping up.
Played this a lot on PC and it is a good RPG. Not a must own, but very good. For me, it got a little «samey» after awhile. But when it hits the right price point, I will double dip. Just so much in the backlog currently so I don't know when I will get to it.
