The War Within introduces interesting new mechanics to both Crafting and Gathering Professions. While players expect Profession updates each time a new expansion launches, The War Within is bringing an unusual number of changes that can alter how the flow of a Profession works, or make the Crafting or Gathering process more difficult than it has been in the past.
We're taking a look at what's new and different with each Profession — this time, with a look at Tailoring! While we're only focused on one small part of this Profession for this deep dive, you can find extensive information in our The War Within Tailoring Guide, as well as overall Profession information in our Profession Overview.
The War Within Tailoring Guide Profession Overview in The War Within
Khaz Algar Tailoring is a Profession that introduces a rather large change to mechanics in The War Within. Cloth, the primary reagent for Tailoring, has always been plentiful in previous expansions, but that may change now — instead of every player being able to loot cloth from Humanoid mobs, only Tailors will be able to do so in Khaz Algar.
With Tailors now being the only source of cloth drops, it naturally tracks that their Specializations would reflect this. Scattered throughout the Tailoring Specialization trees are several nodes that directly affect the amount, quality, and type of cloth Humanoid creatures can drop. Unlike other Professions, however, these aren't isolated to one Specialization tree; the nodes are present in every tree except the one related directly to crafting Cloth Armor.
Of particular note are Dawnweave Tailoring and Duskweave Tailoring, both of which enable Tailors to loot Dawnweave and Duskweave, the two specialty reagents used for high-level crafts. It's highly likely that due to these changes, cloth will fetch a higher price on the Auction House than the silver it has been sold for the past several expansions.
