The era of AI PCs is upon us, & the upcoming PC markets will evolve into something that the world hasn't seen yet, as hinted by several manufacturers at CES.
With the influx of AI in almost every major tech segment in the world, it seems like artificial intelligence is the way to go moving forward. However, in recent times, the term "AI PC" has taken a new high in terms of its usage by tech giants, and based on what we have seen up till now, companies are adjusting their product portfolios in a way to incorporate the power of AI, especially in the case of personal computers. Before we dive into what AI PCs offer, let's take a quick recap on how the situation has evolved.
Artificial intelligence was the talk of the town in 2023, and not only did global markets see a surge in AI developments, but it led to a whole new layer of revolutions, in the area of cloud computing and the integration of genAI into consumer applications.
However, in terms of hardware, we saw the introduction of "game-changing" technologies, such as the integration of a dedicated neural processing unit (NPU) in Intel's latest Meteor Lake CPU lineup, along with the introduction of AMD's new AI engines under its Ryzen AI "XDNA" portfolio, such as the Ryzen 8040/8000G APUs, Versal AI Edge and the Ryzen embedded series, designed to take AI inferencing to the next level, with its accessibility on a consumer level. NVIDIA is also incorporating its AI-infused RTX hardware in these PCs, with a broad range of laptops and devices coming to the market.
So what's next?, well AI PCs are about to take over the space of computing, and we have already seen a glimpse of it at CES 2024, with products such as HP's Omen Transcend 14, which comes with a dedicated NPU
