Recent reports indicate that Nintendo plans to release the Switch 2 next year. The company also reportedly has several new games in the pipeline, which will be released for the new console.
This news comes from Brazilian Journalist Pedro Henrique Lutti Lippe, who discussed it on his O X do Controle podcast. The new Nintendo games will reportedly launch in Q1 2025, alongside the Switch 2 console. The Brazilian reporter claims to have gotten this information from five different inside sources.
Video Games Chronicle later corroborated the information, reporting that Nintendo told multiple publishers to plan for an early 2025 release window.

Earlier reports indicated that the Nintendo Switch 2 was coming in 2024, with one rumor suggesting it may come out next month. However, if that ever was the plan, those plans have clearly changed. There is, as of yet, no word on what may have prompted this delay.
President Shuntaro Furukawa declined to talk about the company’s specific plans for the Switch 2 during Nintendo’s most recent earnings call. However, he described the importance of providing users with “unique propositions” to set the console apart from competitors. From Nintendo’s perspective, these competitors aren’t limited to Xbox and PlayStation but include the entire global entertainment industry.
Interestingly, Furukawa also commented on how Nintendo sometimes struggles with launching a new console after a successful predecessor. If that is a concern, it may mean that Nintendo is taking a more cautious approach to the Switch 2. If so, that could explain why the company seems to be delaying the console until next year.
