Nintendo has announced that it is offering a 14-day free trial deal for Nintendo Switch Online in celebration of a special date this March. A free subscription, no matter how short, is a good way to enjoy the best the console has to offer while the world waits for more details about the Nintendo Switch 2.
Nintendo Switch Online is a subscription service available to players. One of its main features, like similar services on other current-gen consoles, is to facilitate online multiplayer in supported Switch titles, such as the Pokemon series, but the biggest perk for fans is arguably its vast library of classic titles. Over the years, Nintendo has steadily added some of the best NES, SNES, Game Boy, and Nintendo 64 games to Switch Online, allowing players to relive these memories or younger people to experience them for the first time.
Nintendo recently announced that it's currently offering a special 14-day free trial to the Switch Online basic membership to celebrate «Mario Day» on March 10. From now until the end of March 17, players can simply grab the 14-day free trial code on the MyNintendo page to enjoy online multiplayer and the huge library of NES, SNES, and Game Boy games. It seems the Expansion Pack, which grants access to Nintendo 64 titles, is not included in this deal.
While Nintendo is pushing this promo to celebrate Super Mario and playing those games with friends and family, the benefits run deeper than that. For one, it's an exciting time to have a subscription to the service, as additions so far this year like the iconic Golden Sun games are pointing to a big 2024 for JRPGs on Nintendo Switch Online. Given the company's infamously hard stance against emulation, the more legal options there are to play older titles, the sweeter the subscription deal becomes.
