The news comes after previous rumors that Nintendo's next Direct would happen earlier this week.
In early February, rumors quickly spread that Nintendo's first Direct of 2024 would happen by the end of the month, which is a believable claim given that Nintendo's first Direct of the year has happened in February every year since 2019. In a series of cryptic tweets, they claimed that Nintendo's next presentation will be a Partner Showcase and will happen sometime next week. They also stated that the presentation will feature Penny's Big Breakaway, one of many upcoming games for the Nintendo Switch. Additionally, Pyoro_X tweeted «Act 2 — Rebirth,» leading some to wonder whether it was a hint towards Final Fantasy being shown at Nintendo's event, but the Twitter user later explained that this was simply a reference to a recent Famiboards forum post that went viral. It should be emphasized that these are still only rumors at this point, so Nintendo fans should try to keep their hopes in check. However, history would certainly indicate that the next Direct is likely happening before the end of the month.
As for other Nintendo news, recent rumors allege that the Switch 2 has been pushed back to an early 2025 release window.
