Diablo 4 coming to PC Game Pass opens up access to a large amount of new players, which has the potential that Diablo 4 will get a sudden influx of fresh faces. Jez Corden from Windows Central thinks this timing is in preparation for Season 4's release later in April, which is «the big one» according to Corden's sources.
When Season 3 launched at the end of January, it was revealed in-game that the Season will end on April 16.
So far, we have had no breaks in between Seasons which makes it likely that Season 4 releases on April 16 or at the very least close to that date — which would allow a cushion of a few weeks for new Game Pass players to get acclimated with the world of Sanctuary, finish the campaign, and be ready for fresh new content.
All we know currently about Season 4 is that the itemization rework will happen with the release of the Season. Blizzard also confirmed that we will be getting more information on the itemization rework «earlier than normal, not just a few weeks».
