The adventure role-playing game Pentiment is one of the first-party Xbox titles going multiplatform. Set in historical Germany at the beginning of the 16th century, playersfollow the story of Andreas Maler, an illustrator embroiled in a conspiracy involving a series of murders. Pentiment has a choice-driven narrative that allows players to witness their decisions branching into numerous outcomes.
The community expressed surprise when a first-party Xbox game was technically running better on the competition. Obsidian Entertainment responded promptly and released Pentiment's Patch 1.3, as announced on the company's official Twitter account. This update enables 120 FPS for the Xbox Series X, bringing it in line with the PlayStation 5 version. When players noticed that Pentiment ran better on PlayStation 5 than in the Xbox Series, Obsidian Entertainment's director Josh Sawyer stated that the issue was due to a bug.
Patch 1.3 also addresses the High Contrast accessibility option, which was not working as intended. The update includes significant changes such as icon updates on PlayStation and Switch versions and controller graphics updates on the former. Lastly, it corrects the Platinum trophy name for Pentiment on the PlayStation 5, which was a curious oversight from the developer.
