CD Projekt Red Isn't Interested In Being Acquired
CD Projekt Red's chief strategy officer, Adam Kiciński, has confirmed that the studio isn't interested in being acquired and believes that it will only grow "even bigger and stronger".
As Microsoft's $69 billion purchase of Activision Blizzard and Embracer's attempt to buy and burn as many developers and studios as it can over the past year have made abundantly clear, the gaming industry is going through a bit of an acquisition phase lately. Rumours have been flying around about pretty much every studio getting acquired, from Capcom to Square Enix, but one developer has made it clear that it's not interested.
That studio is CD Projekt Red, the team behind The Witcher, Cyberpunk 2077, and Gwent, among other things. Considering how close CD Projekt Red has been to Microsoft over the past few years, many have assumed that it might be next in the acquisition line, but this is something that the team apparently isn't interested in at all.
As reported by IGN, Adam Kiciński, the chief strategy officer of parent company CD Projekt S.A., recently spoke to Polish outlet Parkiet, where he was asked if CD Projekt Red would ever be interested in being acquired by a larger studio or company. In response, Kiciński made it very clear that isn't on the cards for the company and that it plans to get bigger on its own.
"We are not interested in integrating ourselves into any larger entity. Throughout our entire lives we have worked towards the position we currently hold. We believe that in a few years, we will be even bigger and stronger."
That makes it pretty clear that CD Projekt Red isn't going to be getting acquired by Sony or Microsoft in the near future and will act on its own without the help of another studio. In fact, it seems
