Developer LocalThunk has released the first major update for Balatro on the game’s beta branch. Slated for release in the coming weeks, the update can currently tried out by anyone that owns Balatro on Steam by switching to the game’s beta branch.
The update brings with it a host of tweaks and changes, as well as an update to the game’s Love2D game engine improving performance on Windows and Steam Deck. The game is also seeing changes to how its ante scales depending on your chosen stake.
The majority of the update revolves around making smaller balance changes, like changing when Vagabond applies its effects, or how much the Cloud 9 or Mail-In Rebate cost. Check out the full patch notes below.
Since its release, Balatro has been quite successful. The game sold 500,000 copies in just the first ten days of its release, before ultimately going on to sell over a million copies. The success of Balatro has also prompted the developer to work on an iPhone version of the game.
