Ubisoft will release Assassin’s Creed Mirage’s New Game Plus mode as part of a title update next week.
But another new feature, an optional permadeath mode available across all difficulties, won’t arrive as part of December’s update as was previously planned.
“Dive back into Basim’s journey with your current progression and new rewards,” Ubisoft said of New Game Plus.
“The team is still working on the permadeath mode, which is expected to release in an update early 2024.”
Assassin’s Creed Mirage was released on October 5 for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and PC, and an iPhone 15 Pro version is set to follow in early 2024.
A week after its release, Ubisoft said the game was its biggest PS5 and Xbox Series X/S launch to date in terms of unit sales.
“With the number of players being in line with past successful launches such as Assassin’s Creed Origins and Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, we are humbled by the positive reception,” it said.
Mirage’s development was led by Ubisoft Bordeaux, the studio behind Assassin’s Creed Valhalla’s Wrath of the Druids expansion.
Billed as a love letter to the original Assassin’s Creed, gameplay is focused on parkour, stealth and assassinations, marking a return to the action-adventure style of games released prior to the more expansive RPG-style series entries Origins, Odyssey and Valhalla.
According to VGC’s Assassin’s Creed Mirage review, the game’s “short, sharp trip through the blood-soaked streets of Baghdad” offers “a welcome return to the series’ roots” and feels like “a breath of fresh air in the endless sea of open world adventure games”.
