It seems like AMD is planning to bridge the gap in the mobile GPU segment through a new release with its RDNA 4 "Radeon RX 7650M XT".
Well, this is the first time we have seen the name pop up, and the development was disclosed by AOOSTAR, a manufacturer specializing in mini-PCs. The firm announced within its Discord server, revealing that AMD plans to introduce the Radeon RX 7650M XT sometime in July of this year, and the GPU will be featured in their upcoming product. Upon further inquiry from Videocardz, it was disclosed that the new AMD mobile GPU will be featured in an "eGPU" solution, and it will resemble OneXPlayer's ONEXGPU, another external GPU device.
While AOOSTAR didn't reveal specifics about the Radeon RX 7650M XT, it did say that the mobile GPU will be a "small model," hinting that we shouldn't expect much change compared to counterparts such as the Radeon RX 7600M XT, which has recently seen massive adoption in eGPU devices. The eGPU model showcased by AOOSTAR comes with 1 HDMI output, two DP outputs, 3 USB ports, an OCULINK port, and a USB Type-C port. The GPU can be seen configured alongside 4 GDDR6 memory modules (4-8 GB) and an 8-Phase power delivery solution.
AMD's intentions with a new mid-range model in their RDNA 3 mobile lineup aren't clear here; maybe they plan on offering consumers a more budget-oriented option, or the RX 7650M XT might be targeted towards the external GPU market. The company still lags behind NVIDIA in its mobile graphics offerings with the competitor totally dominating the market with several designs based on its latest GeForce RTX 40 "Ada" GPUs whereas AMD has only a handful of laptop designs with its GPU family.
In terms of specification, we are unaware of what to expect with the GPU. Still, looking at the
