A new The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom mod has been released, which adds a FreeCam to the game, and improves both performance and visual fidelity.
Created by modder 'MaxLastBreath', the 'UltraCam' mod allows PC players to use a free cam in the game, which in turn, allows for impressive cinematic sequences. Additionally, this mod allows players to dynamically adjust the game's speed, thereby improving performance. This mod also packs several scaling factors, which should address some upscaling issues when playing the game through Yuzu and Ryujinx. The Ultracom mod also comes with an FOV option, to make Tears of the Kingdom look even more impressive on PC as well as an option to remove fog.
It's an impressive mod for sure, and we've included a video showing off the mod in action below. We've also included a video of how to use and set up the mod. According to the modder, additional features will be added in future versions of the mod, including the option to control weather and time, fix screen space ambient occlusion, fix the level of detail, add first-person mode and VR, and more.
As said, this mod is basically for PC players emulating the Switch game through Yuzu or Ryujinx, but as mentioned by several users, the mod also works on a modded Switch (although the use of the free cam isn't advised in handheld mode).
Those interested in trying out this mod can download it from here. As always, use at your own risk and be sure to follow the provided installation instructions before using it.
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is available globally now for the Nintendo Switch. Nintendo released the Breath of the Wild sequel back in May of this year and has since sold more than 19.5 million copies of the game.
