The Xbox Game Pass catalog is about to expand to include the Resident Evil 3 remake. Apart from adding to the selection of acclaimed survival horror games on the platform, this arrival also marks the third AAA game to reach Xbox Game Pass in February 2024.
The remake of Resident Evil 3: Nemesis, first released in April 2020, may not have reached the heights of its 1999 cult-classic predecessor in terms of ratings, but it was still received rather well. Many critics hence praised Resident Evil 3 for its graphics and modernized controls, as well as some standout action pieces. Aside from boasting Metacritic Metascores ranging from 77 to 84, depending on the platform, the remake also has more than 52,500 «Very Positive» reviews on Steam as of early 2024, some four years since its release.
Resident Evil 3 is now set to debut on Microsoft's gaming service as the fifth Xbox Game Pass addition in February 2024. As was the case with all the other franchise entries that were previously added to the Xbox subscription library, the RE3: Nemesis remake will be available to PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S users. Xbox Cloud Gaming support is also part of the package for those who have the Ultimate-tier membership. Or will be part of the package, to be precise, because the game still hasn't reached Xbox Game Pass as of this writing, circa 6:30am ET on February 13.
While the relatively short campaign length has been a fairly common complaint among the players of the first three Resident Evil remakes, Microsoft's subscribers may not feel as strongly about that issue.
