The latest in a long line of titles celebrating the sport, this entry will look back on WWE history more than ever before. From developer Visual Concepts and publisher 2K, the upcoming title features new modes, customization options, and a huge roster of stars from throughout the years.
Last year's was praised for its massive amount of content, and the franchise seems to have pushed the limits even further this time around when it comes to creating a jam-packed wrestling experience. Perhaps the most standout addition is the 2K Showcase…of the Immortals mode, which aims to seamlessly bring players into different iconic moments from WWE history spanning the past 40 years. The game will also feature four new match types like Ambulance and Casket, two MyRISE storylines, over 200 playable wrestlers, improvements to existing features like additional weapons and Paybacks, and much more.
interviewed 's creative director Lynell Jinks and associate gameplay producer Bryan Williams to discuss the game's biggest updates and improvements, increased player customization, and what they're most excited to see wrestling fans react to at launch.
Screen Rant: One of the most exciting parts of this new game, I think, is probably Showcase… of the Immortals and its spanning of those 40 iconic years. What are the biggest highlights of that Showcase in your opinion, and what was that selection process like for you guys to choose those really standout parts to feature?
Lynell Jinks: It's fun, but at the same time, difficult, because like you said, there's 40 years of matches to comb through and trying to pick, like, «All right, which one's the most iconic?» from each era and trying to pay homage to each era. And so it's tough.
