Revealed during a recent livestream and now published to YouTube is the official release trailer for Kuro Games’ upcoming free-to-play open-world action RPG, Wuthering Waves. The trailer is titled ‘Waking of the World’ and features a theme by Will Stetson.
The official release trailer gives players a look at a number of different locations and characters both new and familiar to players who have been following the game’s development.
Wuthering Waves is set in a futuristic post-apocalyptic world where something known as the Lament has devastated the world, leaving few remaining to bring hope for humanity’s future. If wiping out humanity wasn’t enough, monsters began to appear across the world, but with time humanity adapted to its new reality and began to rebuild.
In the game, players take on the role of a Rover suffering amnesia and will explore the game’s vast open world seeking adventure and unlocking new technologies to explore and do battle with along the way.
Often compared to Genshin Impact, Wuthering Waves is a similar style gacha open world game, though unlike Genshin it places more of an emphasis on its combat systems. We found the combat “very satisfying” in our beta preview.
Wuthering Waves goes live on iOS, Android, and PC on May 22. Pre-downloads will begin on May 21.
