Making can be challenging, but with the right hints it can be a lot easier. Today there are a lot of words that seem small and disconnected, and a few odd words out with many syllables. As with most games, there are times when this is helpful and times when they are not. With enough patience and perhaps some help, you can finish this puzzle and keep your streak alive.
Once you have finished today's puzzle, it is entirely possible that you would like to play something a little more traditional. The NYT also offers a puzzle every day for free so that you can get your nostalgia fix in a bite-sized form daily. And while other app-based exist, this one actually does come from a newspaper for bonus nostalgia points.
The Spelling Bee puzzles created as a New York Times game build a streak of correct answers to get you more points, but they can be hard to keep.
Sending out mail is one of the more traditional ways to make with other humans, but for those who just want to make word connections, here are the categories for today:

This one stood out right away as soon as we saw MAIL and POST. There was a day when we all feared never receiving physical mail again, but now all the mail carriers that survived are out as people SEND and SHIP packages from their favorite online stores all over the world. This is good, because receiving something I bought instills the fun of opening packages into otherwise monotonous mail days.

This category was also fairly clear, but perhaps might not be as clear to more masculine friends. BALM smoothens your lips, GLOSS makes them shiny, LINER makes them stand out and STAIN keeps them one color for a very long time. The real trick is not licking the more flavorful lip glosses off your lips because mom always said that was bad for your stomach.
