Kamala Khan mysterious disappeared at the end of Ms. Marvel. Marvel followed one shock with another when it wrapped up Kamala’s six-episode journey in Ms. Marvel. Immediately after the show confirmed that Kamala is the MCU’s first mutant, the MCU pulled a second twist by spiriting her away and replacing her with Brie Larson’s Carol Danvers.
The finale’s two big twists are crucial to the MCU’s long-term and immediate future. It may take years for the X-Men connection to play out, but the Ms. Marvel finale’s post-credits scene is directly tied to one of the MCU’s upcoming Phase 4 movies. Whatever happened to Kamala and how Carol took her place is sure to be vital to the story of The Marvels, where the two characters are expected to form a superhero trio with WandaVision’s Monica Rambeau (Teyonah Parris). Obviously, Kamala’s bangle is at the heart of what comes next for the characters. It seemingly triggered the predicament that Kamala and Carol have found themselves in at the end of Ms. Marvel episode 6.

Interestingly, what’s happening with these two heroes isn’t without comic precedent. In the 1960s, the original Captain Marvel wore a pair of bracelets called the Nega-Bands that trapped him in the Negative Zone. When teenager and classic Hulk sidekick Rick Jones found a matching pair of the Nega-Bands, he formed an interdimensional link to Mar-Vell that made them unable to coexist in the same time and place.
