Niche fighting game sequel Under Night In-Birth 2 [Sys:Celes] has been given a set release date, and given how insanely busy early 2024 already is, the reveal doesn't make for pleasant reading. Previously pencilled in for a vague 'Q1 2024', In-Birth 2's dropping on the 25th January.
For context, that's just one day before Tekken 8 and Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth. It's also less than a week away from Granblue Fantasy: Relink and Persona 3 Reload. Japanese publishers, what the hell are you playing at?

Now, it's not like the new Under Night In-Birth game was going to set the sales charts alight anyway, but we can't help but feel as though it's going to be buried even deeper than it would have been. A shame, too, because it's a satisfyingly slick and technical series, and probably deserves some extra attention.

Robert's been a dedicated PlayStation fan since the days of Tekken 2, and he still loves a good dust up. When he's not practising combos, he's usually getting lost in the latest 100-hour RPG, or, y'know, replaying The Witcher 3.
Man cmon ArcSys. I was excited for this, even moreso than Tekken. But there’s no way I justify buying a pretty similar looking fighting game sequel when it’s a week away from Persona 3 Reload, and the time I’m finished with that it’ll be Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth.
Seriously a day before Tekken 8 which is marketing like crazy and has insane hype? Hopefully they delay it otherwise they're in for a hard time.
