As per a Twitch streamer, Kick, a new streaming platform aiming to compete with Twitch, has allegedly compelled her to modify her username to benefit a larger Twitch partner. Since its launch in December 2022, Kick has made a substantial impact on the streaming world by offering more lenient policies than Twitch, including no bans related to gambling. Represented by Trainwreck, Kick has aimed to distinguish itself from its rivals by providing users with greater freedom and flexibility in their streaming experience.
However, the platform has also faced a fair amount of criticism recently. For instance, popular Twitch streamer Hasan Piker condemned Kick for not banning fellow streamer Adin Ross, who had streamed sexual content on the platform. Furthermore, Trainwreck, who represents the platform, also criticized Kick for failing to take action against the use of viewbotting services that artificially inflate the number of views for gambling broadcasts.
Former Twitch Director Responds to Kick's Claims About Clip Feature
On March 21, Kick faced criticism once again when a Twitch and Kick streamer named Alyssa, who goes by Sunlihyt, took to Twitter to reveal that her username had been taken away by Kick and given to a Twitch partner. According to Alyssa, she had been using the username for two months before Kick forced her to change it. She also shared a screenshot of an email from Kick staff, in which Kick explained that the username «Lyss» had been reserved for another user who had requested it back. As a gesture of apology for the inconvenience caused, Kick staff offered to help Alyssa change her username to a variation of the original one.
