TRIBES 3: Rivals has officially been unveiled by developer Prophecy Games after reports circulated that the long-dormant franchise was seeing a revival.
TRIBES 3: Rivals will be a 5v5 multiplayer shooter set in the eponymous universe, bringing the fast-paced, jet pack and skiing-powered combat back to the PC, which saw its most recent entry, TRIBES: Ascend launch back in 2012. The developer behind the game, Prophecy Games, was founded in 2019 by then-parent company Hi-Rez Studios, though the studio separated from the SMITE developer a year later.
TRIBES 3: Rivals is holding playtests of the Spinfusor-fueled shooter over the next few months, which players can sign up for on the official website. According to the IGN report this morning, Prophecy Games is looking at PC launch on both Steam and the Epic Games Store first, though it's not ruling out a console port to Xbox and PlayStation in the future.

As someone who used to run around the original 1998 version of TRIBES in maps that housed 128 players on a server, this sounds a bit restrictive at the moment, so hopefully, the Prophecy Games team expands this as development continues.
TRIBES 3 will still have the standard armor styles of Light, Medium, and Heavy, complete with loadouts for each, though Prophecy Games notes that you won't need to unlock weapons throughout the experience.
