Lunar Ray Games is getting ready to return to the world of Timespinner with the announcement of a sequel. Timespinner 2: Unwoven Dream looks to bring more Symphony of the Night inspired exploration to consoles and PC. Specific platforms beyond Steam are still TBD along with a release date. In the meantime, you can get yourself acquainted with the new entry in the announcement trailer.
According to the official site, Timespinner 2 is set after the events of the first game. Players should expect to see some familiar faces returning along with new characters in the interconnected realm known as Surflynd. In addition to Symphony of the Night—which the previous entry took inspiration from while carving its own niche—this Metroidvania aims to pay homage to other ’90s classics. Jeff Ball is once again composing the soundtrack that serves as the backdrop to some beautiful pixel art.
Timespinner 2 has players taking control of Auria, a retired war hero. After her son runs away to prove himself as the hero destined to prevent the collapse of reality, Auria heads out to save him. Along the way she’ll use magical orbs to protect those she loves and fight to discover the truth behind cataclysmic prophecies.
Along with the reveal, character designer and illustrator Absolum shared character portraits for the sequel:
