The Realm Online, one of the oldest MMOs out there, saw itself in the middle of some trouble earlier this year after it initially looked like it was being canned. However, after a new team grabbed the rights to the MMO, The Realm Online had a new life. The launch of a revamped, reimaginedRealm Online has happened today, bringing changes to the game.
While it initially looked like The Realm Online was dead in the water back at the end of June, a new studio swooped in and grabbed the IP and rights from Norseman Games, the original rights holder. As a result, a revamped and reimagined version of The Realm Online has been in the works, which has now seen its official release today.
At 4pm ET/1pm PT, The Realm Online servers were brought back online with changes to inject new life into the old game. In a long post on the Realm Online website, the host of changes are detailed, from gameplay mechanics being altered, such as new Mastery Points added, a new Zone Event system, tons of new gear being brought into the MMO and much more.
This revamped version of The Realm Online looks to be just the beginning, with the new studio clearly dedicated to keeping the elder MMO online for years to come.
