The Last of Us was a massive hit on HBO, and with its success, the network was quick to renew the series for a second season early into the first season. However, if you’re eager to get into the next season, you’ll be left waiting a good while. We already know that the second season is not set to air until next year after the Hollywood strikes caused production delays across the board. But today, we learned that the second season has already begun filming.
Thanks to Deadline, we’re finding out The Last of Us season two had already filmed at least a few scenes. This comes from a quick interview with Isabela Merced. We don’t know what was filmed, but apparently, another actor was recently cast for an unnamed character.
The actress went on to say that a friend and a future superstar were just cast in the show, but they couldn’t say anything else. We expect several new faces to emerge from this season if we go off from the new characters introduced from The Last of Us Part II. Unfortunately, we’ll have to wait and see who makes it in this season, as it’s already been stated that this season won’t be able to tell the entire storyline from The Last of Us Part II.
The Last of Us Part II is far too massive for a single season, so we should see at least a third season come out for the show just as long as HBO renews the series. In recent news regarding the upcoming season, a picture showcasing one location built for the production is circulating online.
