Alan Wake 2 fans received an encouraging update after writer, director, and actor Sam Lake posted an image commemorating his final motion-capture work for the game's DLC, suggesting that the expansions are nearing completion. Lake previously outlined the plans for Alan Wake 2's post-launch additions.
Shortly before Alan Wake 2's release in October, Lake detailed Alan Wake 2's future DLC, which includes both free and paid content. Fans have already received some of this free content in Alan Wake 2's New Game Plus mode added in December, AKA The Final Draft mode. Lake also confirmed that fans can expect two paid DLCs. Although the release dates for the two expansions are still unknown, fans recently received a promising sign.
Lake posted an image to his Twitter account of him celebrating his final day of motion-capture work for Alan Wake 2's DLC. Lake serves as Detective Alex Casey's mo-cap model inAlan Wake 2, so this seems to confirm that Casey will appear in at least one of the expansions. While Lake's post is a promising sign, it does not hint at a release date for either of the DLCs, although fans could see news soon. The two expansions are titled Night Springs and Lake House. Night Springs, which is confirmed as the first DLC to be released, allows users to «play as several familiar characters» while progressing through multiple episodes of Alan Wake's in-universe Night Springs show, which heavily draws inspiration from The Twilight Zone.
Alan Wake 2's second expansion, Lake House, sees users explore a mysterious house and go on two separate adventures as the realities of Saga Anderson and Alan Wake intersect again. Seeing that Night Springs' release date is still not announced, Lake House is likely not releasing anytime in the immediate future. Current speculation puts Night Springs around a late spring or summer release window and Lake House around a late summer or fall release window. But for now, fans will have to wait for more concrete news on the two DLCs.
