Apex Legends players have a new reason to log in to the game, as Respawn Entertainment is giving away free Apex Packs for a limited time. This decision from the developer comes after the complications involving accounts being reset and players losing battle pass progress in Apex Legends.
The significant issues with accounts started near the beginning of the month following the April Fools’ update for Apex Legends. Unfortunately, the complications were much more serious than the new LTM added in the update. Players had to deal with a massive data outage and a period where many saw much of their account progress and cosmetics erased. While the developer seems to have fixed most of the account-related issues, the situation has caused frustration for many in the Apex Legends community.
Fortunately, players have received a gift for their trouble. Respawn recently revealed that it was giving away free Apex Packs as a thank-you for the community’s patience during the data outage and subsequent recovery process. Specifically, players will receive eight free Apex Packs simply by logging into their account by April 24 at 10 AM PT. While these are normal Apex Packs with the standard chances of getting each rarity of cosmetics, they offer fans more opportunities to unlock Heirloom Shards in Apex Legends to use on Mythic items, including Heirlooms and Prestige Skins. It is worth noting that once the packs have been received, players can open them whenever they choose.
Since the announcement from Respawn, many players have expressed their appreciation on social media. However, some continue to be concerned about the state of the game, as Season 20 has had several issues since its launch in February. While this latest season has brought numerous changes that fans have viewed positively, such as a Legend Upgrade system and changes to Apex Legends' EVO shields, cheaters and hackers continue to be an issue.
