Naughty Dog has confirmed that The Last Of Us Part 2: Remastered will transfer your PlayStation 4 trophies to PlayStation 5.
As reported by IGN, the studio shared this information in a recent tweet. But, there is more that gamers will need to know.
So, Naughty Dog is adding new trophies as part of the new No Return mode. These trophies will not be required for you to earn platinum. By doing it this way, Naughty Dog makes it possible for players to get their platinum trophy to carry over when they transfer between generations.
PlayStation 5 owners have the option to upgrade their digital PlayStation 4 version of The Last Of Us Part 2: Remastered, to the PlayStation 5 Remastered version, for only $ 10.
This is all well and good, but retentive trophy/achievement hunters may be unsatisfied that the platinum doesn’t really reflect that players have really earned every single trophy available. Maybe Naughty Dog should have made another new platinum just for the No Return Mode.
Naughty Dog did list these as the new trophies to be added to The Last Of Us Part 2: Remastered in the No Return Mode:
Obviously, Naughty Dog did not add a new platinum as a reward for getting all the trophies on the main game and No Return.
This, obviously, really isn’t the same thing as getting an entirely new game from Naughty Dog. Some fans have also expressed disappointment that the studio planned for this remaster to come so soon from the release of the original game.
This is the reason for the big upgrade discount, of course, but it’s a seeming indication that Naughty Dog itself hasn’t been able to properly plan to get new games out for PlayStation 5 owners in a timely manner. Hopefully, they can do better in the coming months and years ahead.
