Square Enix has released the soundtrack for Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, which features 175 tracks.
The digital version of the soundtrack is available now, and pre-orders have opened for the physical version.
Square Enix has also announced a limited-edition music box that plays Aerith’s Theme, which is available to pre-order for £849.99.
“A massive volume of specially selected songs, as well as the theme song ‘No Promises to Keep Loveless ver.’ composed by Nobuo Uematsu, will be included in a seven-disc CD set,” reads a description.
Uematsu recently agreed to compose the main theme for the third game in the Final Fantasy 7 remake trilogy.
He is most famous for composing the soundtracks for the first nine Final Fantasy games, and working on numerous subsequent entries.
Although Final Fantasy 7 Remake and Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth contain soundtracks created by different composers, Uematsu still composed the main theme for both games – ‘Hollow’ for Final Fantasy 7 Remake, and ‘No Promises to Keep’ for Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth.
In an interview in February, Uematsu said he doesn’t think he’ll be able to compose an entire game’s soundtrack ever again.
“You would have to give it full throttle for two or three years. And I don’t think I have the physical and mental strength to do it anymore.”
Uematsu also said he had a “sense of finality” about his Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth theme, No Promises to Keep, and that he was “satisfied” with what he had made.
“Of course, it’s great to see new people giving this series their all and making great games, but I was happy to get back in the saddle and contribute again,” he said.
“In 10, 20 years, when it’s my time to go, I’ll look back on this moment with tears in my eyes.”
