Following its digital release last May 21, Universal Pictures has finally announced the release date for on Peacock, David Leitch’s latest action comedy starring Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt.
“He’s a stuntman, and like everyone in the stunt community, he gets blown up, shot, crashed, thrown through windows and dropped from the highest of heights, all for our entertainment,” the film’s synopsis reads. “And now, fresh off an almost career-ending accident, this working-class hero has to track down a missing movie star, solve a conspiracy and try to win back the love of his life while still doing his day job. What could possibly go right?”
The Fall Guy will be available for streaming starting on Friday, August 30, nearly four months after its theatrical debut. In addition, an extended cut version of the movie will also be released on Peacock, providing fans with 20 minutes of new scenes. Despite positive reviews, the film still had a poor box office performance. It earned a worldwide gross of over $177 million against a reported budget of around $125-150 million.
It was directed and produced by David Leitch from a screenplay written by Drew Pearce, loosely inspired by the 1980s television series of the same name. The film also starred Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Winston Duke, Hannah Waddingham, and Stephanie Hsu. It was produced by Gosling, Kelly McCormick, and Guymon Casady. Executive producers were Pearce, Geoff Shaevitz, and Glen A. Larson.
