Night of the Living Dead wasn't the first zombie film. But it is the first modern zombie film that defined the undead genre. More than 50 years after its debut, this gritty little flick is still absolutely terrifying. There are any number of remakes, sequels, and similarly titled zombie fare of varying quality—but if you're looking for the best, make sure you choose the 1968 original.
