K-Drama Doona! Ending Explained & Spoilers: What Happened at the End?

The series follows the story of a retired K-pop idol, Lee Doo-na, played by, who ends up sharing a house with a university student, Won-jun, played by. The duo spend quality time together and eventually fall in love with each other.
The K-drama has 9 episodes and documents both Doo-na and Won-jun’s journey, both separately and together. While fans expected a happy ending, the series left the characters as well as fans on a bittersweet note. Although the lead couple fell for each other, their careers and life goals forced them to focus on their own lives and eventually they split for good.

The season finale of Doona! began with glimpses of the entire storyline. However, it was clear by the end of the K-drama that Doo-na and Won-jun go in their separate directions in life. While Won-jun moves out of the apartment to focus on his studies, Doo-na returns to the K-pop scene, this time as a soloist. Even though Doo-na wants to fight for the relationship, Won-jun decides it’s best for him to move away from her.
After four years, Jin-ju meets Won-jun and informs him that she’d stayed in touch with Doo-na, who is all set to release her new album. The friends reunite for one last time at the shared house. But, Doo-na is nowhere to be found. After updating his friends about him getting settled in life, he returns to the house to find his jacket when he sees her.
She confronts Won-jun for breaking up with her and asks him to apologize for the same. Won-jun expresses regret at his actions. Fast forward to a few years later, Won-jun is among the top scorers for a National Civil Servant
