Well, that didn’t take long, did it? Following its announcement for PS5 at Summer Game Fest, Riot Games launched a closed beta for Valorant that’s been running for several weeks now. That very same online test entered open beta last week, and now the game’s officially released. If you want to play the hero shooter, have at it – it’s free for everyone to download from today.
Valorant has been available on PC for several years now, but the developer is hoping to attract an entirely new audience with this console release. The free-to-play affair, which features a growing roster of characters all with different moves and abilities, is considered a compelling alternative to the likes of Overwatch 2.
Riot has pulled off a pretty tall order
What are your thoughts on Valorant? Have you been playing the beta, and will you be testing out this final release? Take the spike in the comments section below.

Great news for Concord lmao
I wanted to see what it felt like to be a PC gamer, so when I got to the account screen, I threw a hissy fit and deleted it. I do feel superior now.
This game is far harder to play than usual hero shooters, if you try to run around shooting you will die quickly. More like Counterstrike. I wouldnt compare Valorant to those games to be honest.

We all came here to post the exact same comment, didn't we?
Another free to play Hero Shooter launches on PlayStation, and just a few weeks before Concord and its $40 price tag. Ouch.
Also, the characters in that image for Valorant look much better than the entire Concord cast.
@jrt87 Yes, we did. We all did.
Poor Concord. It was born to suffer, crash and burn.
Give me Concord
