Conrad Kellogg is first met while the Sole Survivor is still in their cryo pod during the introduction of , cruelly taking their spouse and son from them. Finding Kellogg is the focus of the main questline, as he serves as the main antagonist for the first act of the game. The cold-blooded mercenary has answers to the many questions surrounding the location of Shaun, but luckily, tracking him down is pretty straightforward.
Finding Kellogg takes place during the main questline and will follow directly from the previous quest. To trigger, you must get into Kellogg's old house in Diamond City with Nick Valentine. There are a few ways to do this, such as persuading Mayor McDonough or stealing the key, but once inside, the house should be searched for clues and the secret room found. After Kellogg's preferred brand of cigars is picked up, Nick will suggest using faithful companion Dogmeat to track Kellogg, and interacting with the dog outside the house will begin.
Fallout 4’s multiple endings depend on which of its factions the player character sides with — primarily the Institute. Here’s what each one affects.
To find Kellogg, you will need to follow Dogmeat as he sniffs out clues along a predetermined trail. Nick will volunteer to travel with you, and you will have the choice to bring him along or keep whichever companion you are currently traveling with. Dogmeat will run fairly quickly, but luckily, the clues he follows are spaced out enough to allow for pauses in case you need to catch up.
Leading you out of Diamond City, Dogmeat will first stop at a pond just south of the settlement. Here you will need to look for a San Francisco Sunlights cigar and pick it up for Dogmeat to carry on. In a doorway to an underpass will be some bloody rags, indicating Kellogg was injured, and after showing them to Dogmeat he will run off. After that, he will lead you along some rail tracks, before stopping at another underpass area where Kellogg sat and drank some Gwinnett Stout.
