A new update has been released for The Lord of the Rings Online, and it has some fairly massive news for fans of the game.
To celebrate the Year of the Dragon, a new free instance has appeared in-game entitled ‘The Dragon and the Storm’. Said instance is available for up to six players who have level 150 characters, and tasks fans with seeing Rothog’s quest to its conclusion. There are also several updates to how loot boxes and Filibert Fig work, with new items available for purchase.
The biggest news here, however, is that all content from the tenth expansion of the game, Before the Shadow, is available for free to all players. That expansion added a new starting zone to the game, two new regions, and an alternate leveling path in those two regions. Higher-level players were given the option to increase the difficulty of any missions that they want in order to gain better and better rewards.
In addition to all of this, there’s a large series of bug fixes and changes to the game, including several changes to class systems, changes to how crafting works, several changes to events and a whole lot of other details. The full patch notes for the update are available at the official Lord of the Rings Online webpage.
It’s a big week for the Lord of the Rings franchise. In addition to this update for the long-running MMORPG, the second season of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings Of Power saw the release of the first three episodes, launching to critical acclaim, with 92% of critic reviews on review aggregate site Rotten Tomatoes being positive.
