Superman: Legacy Brings In Barry Star Anthony Carrigan As Metamorpho
gamespot.comHot off his third Emmy nomination for HBO's Barry, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed that Anthony Carrigan has been cast as Silver Age DC comic book character Metamorpho for James Gunn's Superman: Legacy. Carrigan is the most recent DCU addition that will formally launch DC's new universe under Gunn and his DC Studios co-boss Peter Safran.
Just earlier this week, Edi Gathegi, Isabela Merced, and Gunn feature mainstay Nathan Fillion were announced as Mr. Terrific, Hawkgirl, and Guy Gardner, respectively, to Superman: Legacy's cast. They will be joined by the new Superman David Corenswet and Lois Lane, played by another Emmy-nominated actress, Rachel Brosnahan.
«Metamorpho is one of my all-time favorite characters and I'm unbelievably excited by how we're bringing him to the screen in Superman: Legacy,» Gunn posted on his Instagram. «And equally excited about working with Anthony Carrigan.»
Metamorpho, aka archeologist Rex Mason, was created by Bob Haney and Ramona Fradon in 1965. If you can't tell by his name, his powers include being able to transmute the elements in his body into various forms, after being cursed by an ancient artifact. He was also a founding member of the superteam known as the Outsiders, which was also made up with some of DC's B and C-list characters.
This will be Carrigan's second time playing a DC comics character, the first being a serial killer and notable Batman villain Victor Zsasz in Fox's Gotham series for 20 episodes.
