In this weeks 10.1.7 PTR build, Blizzard has added some additional functionality to the incoming Ping System as well as a datamined tutorial image and mouse cursors.
Tutorial & Mouse CursorsThe tutorial image is likely unfinished lacking the description, but does give an accurate preview as to some of the features.
Top Left depicts the new simple press and release ping at mouse cursor functionality. Top Right shows the press and hold ping mouse wheel for selecting a different type of ping. Bottom Right depicts how pinging UI frames will ping the specific target in-game. Bottom Left is a bit less straight forward but likely shows how pings also show up in chat as shown below.Additionally, new mouse cursors have been datamined and can also be seen in the above images. They don't appear to be working currently on the PTR, but is likely to be hooked up prior to 10.1.7's launch on September 5th.
Simple Ping & TTS FunctionalityBlizzard has separated the ping wheel from simple ping functionality and added Text-to-Speech options for the new Ping System as detailed in this week's PTR development notes.
PING SYSTEMThere are now two modes to activate the ping wheel, removing the need to click and drag the mouse to select pings: Press and releasing the hotkey will trigger a ping at mouse position. Press and holding the hotkey will trigger the radial wheel at the position the hotkey was originally pressed. Ping chat lines are now available for Text-to-Speech. Read more on wowhead.com
