During the start of the year, multiple rumors were doing the rounds, claiming that Apple was thinking about introducing a name change for the iPhone 14 Pro Max successor, with the flagship possibly being called the iPhone 15 Ultra. Shortly after, those rumors faded away, leading us to believe that the iPhone 15 Pro Max might be the official name, but as luck would have it, those earlier talks have exhumed once more, stating that an entirely new model could be announced in a few weeks.
Looking at Apple’s other product names, switching to the ‘Ultra’ moniker makes sense. The company has done this with the Apple Watch Ultra, the largest smartwatch in its lineup, and the M2 Ultra, which happens to be the fastest custom SoC at this time. Looking at the rumored specifications of the iPhone 15 Ultra, it more than just deserves the name. After all, it will sport the biggest display of the entire lineup, which only means it will be packing the largest battery out of all four models.
