Project Mugen is probably a title that not a lot of you will be aware of. It's a new open-world anime RPG that was revealed during this year's Gamescom event by developer Naked Rain and publisher NetEase Games. Despite having only been revealed fairly recently, this unassuming title has been making waves on social media, mostly because it allows characters to use webs to travel quickly across the game's world.
While Project Mugen does look pretty nifty, the game's traversal system has attracted the attention of thousands of Spider-Man fans, who have been dunking on the title mercilessly because of its similarities to Insomniac's work. We don't get to see much of the web-slinging in the game's latest trailer, but you can understand why so many have instantly made the connection when you look at the animations of each character and features such as zipping to points and running on the side of buildings.

You'll find multiple posts online of people calling Project Mugen's web-slinging "copy paste", with some going so far as to put together side-by-side videos comparing the two titles. Others are joking that Sony and Insomniac have a lawsuit on their hands (though there's no actual legal way either could do anything about it since NetEase is a Chinese company), while you have some that actually quite like the look of the game thanks to the web-slinging. It does look pretty cool, you have to admit.
