Rocksteady has reportedly delayed again, but its extra development time may not be enough to assuage skepticism. The DC shooter title was due to release in May 2023 and would serve as a continuation of Rocksteady's acclaimed, Batman-led Arkhamverse, while focusing on other DC Universe characters, such as Deadshot, Harley Quinn, Captain Boomerang, and King Shark.
After a leaked menu revealed 's live service-esque features, such as a battle pass and cosmetics store, players started to become skeptical of the title. Fan backlash only worsened when an extended preview of the title's gameplay was shown at Sony's February 2022 State of Play, showing gameplay that was closer to the likes of failed titles such as and than any of the games that came before it.

's Jason Schreier (via Twitter) reported that "" claimed Rocksteady has delayed the title to later in the year following the fan backlash, but a new release date has not been made clear. Schreier suggested that a delay this late in the day is mainly for polish and moves it out of a crowded release window. This seems likely, as this far into development it's unlikely that the developer will be able to change all the features that fans are complaining about and still get it out this year.
The major complaint following 's gameplay reveal was that the game felt too much like a generic live service title. This was evident with characters like King Shark and Captain Boomerang using guns in , an uncharacteristic weapon choice for both, and not playing how fans of the characters would expect for the majority of the title's gameplay.
