Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, the new game from acclaimed Batman Arkham developers Rocksteady Studios, arrives in just a few months, and yet, fans have been kept largely in the dark. Some cinematics and a bit of touched-up pseudo gameplay are all we’ve been shown… until now. During the latest PlayStation State of Play, Sony and Warner Bros. Interactive rolled out several minutes of honest-to-god Suicide Squad gameplay which is looking pretty promising.
Our first taste of Suicide Squad footage shows off a battle between the team and the Brainiac-corrupted Flash and a big, city-stomping robot. The game’s combat looks impressive, as it combines shooting, melee, and traversal skills, with your Squad members bound around the environment effortlessly. Each of the game’s playable characters (Deadshot, Harley Quinn, Captain Boomerang, and King Shark) look unique, and, of course, everything can be played co-op, so you can figure out which characters work best together with your friends. Now, the part that will likely spark some controversy – as confirmed in the video aboe, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League will have a full array of weapons and gear to collect and equip, which will affect your Gear Score. You’ll essentially be locked out of higher-level missions until you raise your Gear Score enough. The game will also have a cosmetic-only battle pass, and Rocksteady is promising to add new characters, missions, and more down the line.
