From the very first time it was decided that Star Wars would extend beyond the original trilogy, what has been added to its growing galaxy has been hotly debated. The first new addition to the Star Wars universe beyond the first three movies - and the Holiday Special, but don't worry about that - was The Phantom Menace. The first installment in the prequel trilogy that split hardened Star Wars fans, and it turns 25 this year.
Love The Phantom Menace or not, there will be a lot of stuff done throughout 2024 to celebrate Episode One's milestone. On top of getting another chance to see it in cinemas this May, Star Wars has also released eight new Phantom Menace Funko Pops, all of which are available to buy on Amazon right now. Seven characters from the movie turned into figures, all getting one each other than Padme who has two.
Although the page for the Pops is live and you can see all of their designs and prices, their individual pages don't appear to be live at the time of writing this meaning you can't pre-order them just yet.
One of Padme's Pops is based on the way Natalie Portman's character looked in The Phantom Menace when trying to blend in, and the other shows her as Queen Amidala. The latter is the only one of the eight that doesn't appear to be on Amazon right now, although it will likely be added when pre-orders officially open. The regular Padme Pop! is though, as are the six other figures which include Jar Jar Binks, a young Anakin Skywalker, and a Battle Droid pointing its gun.
Watto and Obi-Wan Kenobi, complete with a blue lightsaber, are also available, and all six mentioned so far are $12.99 each. The only one from the selection that will cost you more is Darth Maul. The Phantom Menace antagonist has a few Pops already, so Funko naturally wanted to make this new one unique. It has done that by putting Maul on his Palafin Speeder, the sand kicked up behind it making it look like the figure is really off the ground and moving at pace.
