Sony is offering Last of Us Part 2 Remastered refunds for those who already owned the PS4 version but also pre-ordered the PS5 remaster.
For those already owning the game on PS4, there's an upgrade path to the remastered PS5 version for only $10. Yet, numerous players still pre-ordered The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered on PS5 for $50, and for those players, Sony is now kind enough to offer refunds (via Zuby_Tech). According to Sony, it doesn't want players to miss out on this opportunity, and as "a gesture of good will", those pre-orders are being refunded allowing players to still grab the remastered version for only $10.
"As an owner of the PS4 digital version of the Last of Us Part II, a digital upgrade to the PS5 digital version will be available at a deeply discounted price on launch day 19/1/24", Sony's message reads. "We don't want you to lose out on that opportunity, so, as a gesture of good will, we have refunded your your purchase for the pre-order of the PS5 version of The Last of Us Part II Remastered so that you may purchase the digital upgrade on launch day."
According to Sony, the refund will be paid back to the original payment method. If, for any reason, Sony is unable to refund to the original payment method, the amount will be credited to a player's PSN wallet
