It’s football o’clock for FIFA fans, with this year’s thoroughly rebranded game out now. Oh sure, the official street date is next week, but all these publishers love a more expensive edition with early access, and that’s out now for all the football crazy and football mad.
Before you lace up your boots for those first kick abouts, though, there’s a week of games news, reviews and more to catch up on.
This was a week of Xbox leaks, thanks, as with all the juicy industry insider news of the past year, thanks to another flubbed redaction effort during the Microsoft vs. FTC court cases.
But for a doubled up 6, we’d have a pretty strong hand if we were playing poker with our review scores this week:
Despite that weight of games in review, we still managed to post a good crop of previews as well. Biggest of all was my hand-on time with Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, getting to check out Sephiroth gameplay, as well as explore some more open world environments on the back of a Chocobo.
I also went face-on with Ghostbusters: Rise of the Ghost Lord, the co-op ghost-busting game coming to PSVR 2 and Meta Quest in October, as well as checked out the new 4X strategy game Millennia, which has a particularly intriguing take on how history can unfold. And Dom got to explore the great looking blend of town building and medieval combat in Bellwright.
Rounding things out as always was What We Played, which featured Payday 3, Lies of P and FF7 Rebirth.
